Sixteen teams play an online Swiss-system group stage with every match best-of-three, and the top eight reach a single-elimination playoff in Katowice. Quarterfinals, semifinals and a third-place decider are best-of-three, and the grand final is best-of-five.

ESL Pro League is ESL's long-running Counter-Strike league and, alongside the IEM events, a pillar of the ESL Pro Tour, with two seasons played each year. It launched in 2015 as a joint venture between ESL and ESEA with separate regional divisions, became a single international competition from Season 13 in 2021, and spent recent seasons in ESL's studio setups in Malta and Stockholm. Since Valve ended partner leagues in 2025, places are awarded through the Valve Regional Standings and the ESL Challenger League.

Season 24 brings the league back into an arena. The Swiss group stage is played online from October 3 to 7, and the eight surviving teams travel to the Spodek in Katowice, Poland, for a three-day playoff on October 9 to 11, the first time Pro League has used an arena setting since 2019. The field is trimmed to 16 teams: 12 invited from the Valve Regional Standings and four who qualified through ESL Challenger League Season 51.

Recent seasons have been split between Team Vitality and Natus Vincere. Vitality won Seasons 21 and 22 without dropping a single map in either grand final, sweeping MOUZ and then Falcons. NAVI answered by taking Season 23 in March 2026, beating Aurora 3-1 in Sweden behind a standout final from AWPer w0nderful, to collect their first top-tier trophy since IEM Rio in 2024.
