About Thunderpick World Championship
The Thunderpick World Championship is a Counter-Strike tournament series funded by the esports betting site Thunderpick, which bills it as the largest prize pool a bookmaker has put behind an esports event. The first edition in 2023 was played entirely online after a season of regional qualifiers. FaZe Clan beat Virtus.pro 2-0 in a best-of-three final, winning the second map 19-17 in double overtime, to take $250,000 of a $500,000 pot, with ropz named MVP.
The event moved to LAN in 2024 with a $1,000,000 prize pool. The MongolZ beat HEROIC 3-1 at the LVL Dome in Berlin, with bLitz named MVP, and FURIA won in 2025 by recovering from a two-map deficit to beat Natus Vincere 3-2 in Malta. The 2026 edition, its fourth, ran online series in Europe, North America and South America from April to August. A 16-team closed qualifier in September, won by Virtus.pro, decided the last place in the eight-team Malta finals.
